Pony Door Panel Installation Instructions

TMI Products, Inc. recommends the installation of your new Pony Door Panels, be installed by a professional. Please follow instructions carefully. Failing to do so may cause a lengthy installation and possible damage to the panels.
Tools Required:
Hobby knife ………. Phillips screwdriver
Putty knife …….. … 5/32 Allen Wrench
- Place a blanket or padding on a work bench in preparation for your new Pony Door Panel Installation.
- Unscrew window crank and door pulls with a 5/32 Allen Wrench
#Remove door handle cup inserts. Unscrew screws inside the door handle cup,m remove door handle cup. - Use trim pad remover tool to remove panel
- Remove screws holding in the outer chrome trim. Carefully remove outer chrome trim molding from original panel. Remove chrome carefully to avoid bending. Remove inner chrome trim molding by unbending the tabs on the backside of the panel. DO NOT set the trim on top of the new panel until you are ready to reinstall the trim on the new panels. The tabs are sharp and can perforate the vinyl.
- Remove your TMI panels from box, place on your workbench and inspect them for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. NOTE: once installation has been started panels are not returnable.
- Perforate the back of the new panels in the location shown with a hobby knife.
- Carefully cut out each hole indicated with a hobby knife.
- Cut out the bottom of the door pull and any excess foam that would prevent the cup fitting into place. (Figure 1 & 3)
- Install the door panel cup. NOTE: Vinyl may pull down with cup. Carefully use a curved blunt body spoon to push the vinyl material back into place (Figure 4)
- If your Mustang is equipped with a remote mirror, use your hobby knife to cut out the supplied relief on the backside of the panel.
- Slide the outer chrome trim over outside edge of panel.
- The inner trim can now be pushed through the holes and tabs bent in.
- Install the Pony Door Panel clips. NOTE: Pony Door Panel clips are different than normal door panel clips. This panel will not fit properly without the use of “Pony” clips.
- Locate your Pony Door Panel onto door using the Pony door handle escution. (Figure 2) Push the panel into position.
- Screw down the Pony door handle cups, and replace cup inserts back into cup.
- Install the window cranks and door pulls.
